The Bamboo Press 54: Updated Lastic® Advantages

These are Lastic Products like food boxes, straws, and lids.
Just a Few Lastic® BAMBOO Products...

It's been a while since we've written about Lastic® Advantages. So, we'd like to catch everyone up because we've recently released new products and received even more accolades. We ultimately believe that Lastic® BAMBOO products exude superiority over all other bioplastics available on the market.

We're saying that because Lastic® Bamboo Resin and BAMBOO products outperform and are more environmentally friendly than all other bioplastics on the market, they exist in their own stratosphere.

NFT51-800:2015 and AS5810 Certified H&G Compostable – The NFT51-800:2015 is the H&G compostability standard used in France, and the AS5810 is the H&G compostability standard used in Australia. Many compostable-product companies seek the NFT51-800:2015 (issued by DIN CERTCO) for its widespread acceptability; however, the AS5810 is the most stringent and, therefore, the highest coveted compostability standard on earth. Lastic® Bamboo Resin and many BAMBOO products hold these critical certifications.

BPI World Commercially Compostable (ASTM D 6400:2019-01) and DIN CERTCO European Commercially Compostable (EN 13432:2000-12) – While holding the vaunted H&G Compostability certifications, the legal environments in several jurisdictions require a product also have commercially compostable certifications for acceptance into commercial composting schemes. Thus, Lastic® holds the US-standard ASTM D 6400:2019-01 and the European standard EN 13432:2000-12. These are issued by BPI World and DIN CERTCO, respectively.

Not Single-Use: Dishwasher Approved – Even though Lastic® BAMBOO products are H&G Compostable, making them eco-friendly, they're also reusable! We had SGS run Lastic® straws and utensils against their standard-dishwasher test—25 cycles at 2 hours/cycle—and the Lastic® products passed.

No PFASPFAS, or per and poly-fluoroalkyl substances, are plastic-like laminates found in bagasse straws and food packaging; most paper straws and paper food packaging contain PFAS, too. While the FDA approves several types of PFAS for food contact, they take about 500 years to biodegrade fully—this is well above the 360-day limit set by the Australasian Bioplastics Association. Lastic® Bamboo Resin and BAMBOO products contain only a handful of natural ingredients—not PFAS. We've got an SGS report to prove it.

FSC Packaging – Our individually-wrapped straws and utensil sets are packaged in FSC-certified paper. A paper product must prove that it has been sustainably harvested from a forest and did not damage the environment to sport the FSC logo. All Lastic® cartons are recyclable, too.

Performs and Feels Like PP (polypropylene) – One of the first observations potential clients report to us after receiving BAMBOO product samples is the remarkable similarity of Lastic® BAMBOO products to PP products. BAMBOO straws bend just like PP straws, and BAMBOO lids and food boxes perform with the strength and heat resistance (-20°C to 100°C) akin to PP. Unlike PP, Lastic® BAMBOO products are H&G compostable and don't contribute to plastic pollution.

Made with Sustainable, CO2-Absorbing Bamboo – Bamboo, specifically Makino Bamboo, is a major ingredient in Lastic® BAMBOO products. Technically a grass, Makino Bamboo grows for 3-5 years before it's harvested. After harvest, Makino Bamboo does not need to be replanted. The original root system can produce bamboo stalks for several years.

Currently, we're working on carbon-neutrality certifications. Earning these will take about a year, but we aim to be entirely certified by late 4Q23.

These seven points are just some of the Lastic® BAMBOO products and Lastic® Bamboo Resin's main advantages; there are several more positive aspects. If you want to see our SGS reports or more info about Lastic® BAMBOO products and Lastic® Bamboo Resin, send us a message!
