Lastic's BPI certified utensils are a sustainable replacement for plastic ones.

Nowadays, the prevalence of food delivery services like Door Dash and Uber eats have simplified life. However, if we're outside of our homes when we order food, we're likely to include plastic utensils with our meals.

A regrettable fact about plastic utensils is that they probably won't get recycled. Recycling them is difficult because their small size and light weight make it nearly impossible for automated plastic sorting equipment to separate them from waste properly. Thus, most plastic utensils become either landfilled or pollute the environment.

Plastic Utensils' Contribution to Plastic Pollution

While consumers in the United States don't use as many plastic forks, knives, and spoons as straws, they still use about 40 billion pieces per year. This is about 110 million pieces, daily. Obviously, food delivery services' prevalence and popularity have proliferated plastic waste.

Fortunately, utensils made from BPI-certified biodegradable Lastic Bamboo Resin are a logical replacement for plastic utensils. And, unlike several bamboo or bagasse (which we still believe is a ridiculously unflattering product name), the raw materials composing Lastic Bamboo Resin come from two origins.

Lastic Material Sourcing and Quality

The first is Thailand, where Mitsubishi and PTT Biochem manufacture bio-based PBS. Bio-based PBS is an ingredient for Lastic Bamboo Resin.

The second origin is Taiwan. In Taiwan, Lastic sources indigenous bamboo and starches, the other ingredients for Lastic Bamboo Resin.

Although Lastic utensils biodegrade, they're built for reuse. Lastic's engineering team designed Lastic Bamboo Resin-made utensils with resiliency in mind. So, consumers can wash their knives, forks, and spoons after each use. Lastic Bamboo Resin-made materials only begin to biodegrade when exposed to organic-material devouring, compost-pile or soil-dwelling bacteria.

Due to its compostable and biodegradable properties, Lastic Bamboo Resin is a viable replacement for all plastic utensils. Many customers are interested in Lastic products; be among the first few to import them to your country. Send Island Leaf a message for more information!
