As mentioned in a previous edition of The Bamboo Press, Americans use around 40 billion pieces of single-use plastic utensils annually. This number computes to almost 110 million pieces daily.
Luckily, plastic utensil manufacturers can use BPI-certified compostable Lastic Bamboo Resin to replace traditional plastics like polypropylene (PP) and polylactic acid (PLA). While users can reuse Lastic utensils, they can also discard them into compost piles, in which they'll biodegrade into soil-benefitting nutrients.
Lastic offers utensils in two colors that can complement any meal.
For companies specializing in providing takeout meals for people on the go, Lastic's 4-in-1 package is a prime choice. Each package contains a knife, spoon, fork, and napkin. And Lastic packages each 4-in-1 set in FSC-certified paper. Lastic packs 160 4-in-1 sets per carton. This equals 2,000 cartons in a 40' high-cube container, or 320,000 sets per container.
With takeout specifically in mind, Lastic sells standard knives, forks, and spoons in bulk quantities. Two hundred fifty utensils are packed in a recyclable BOPP bag. Cartons contain four bags, totaling 1,000 pieces. We can pack 2,000 cartons of takeout knives, forks, or spoons in a 40' high-cube container; this comes out to 2,000,000 pieces.
We prefer to pack only one type of utensil per carton; however, we're willing to entertain unique customer requests.
Some clients show concern about the BOPP bags. While these bags are indeed plastic, they're clean enough for recyclability. However, some clients won't want to use any plastic packaging, a request that Lastic can gladly fulfill.
