The Bamboo Press 51: One-Year Anniversary Promoting Lastic®

One year ago, Lastic® approached the Island Leaf Team (us) with market expansion in mind. The Taiwan-based company aspires to expand into the mind-bogglingly vast North American market. Having deep familiarity with Lastic®'s product portfolio and being from North America, we stumbled over ourselves as we rushed toward such a promising opportunity.

Lastic® makes a product that we wholeheartedly believe in and want to evangelize. The company brilliantly crafted a legitimate home and garden (H&G) compostable plastic substitute—with certifications to prove it—using bamboo, bio-based PBS, and starch. From experience in recycled plastics and commodities trade, we predict that Lastic® Bamboo Resin and Lastic® BAMBOO products will play a pivotal role in the burgeoning compostable-product industry.

However, the compostable-product industry's nascency complicated matters. On the one hand, the dearth of H&G compostable products on the market eased product positioning. But on the other hand, supplanting plastics, used to make reliable but not-so-environmentally friendly products for years, would be a formidable challenge. Luckily, Newtonian Physics applies in this situation because we gravitate toward challenges like this.

To overcome these challenges, we itemized Island Leaf's strengths:

1. We had (and continue to have) a strong relationship with Lastic®'s founder. Daily communication keeps us updated with production capabilities, product development, and more.

2. We have a Rolodex that could double as a mini electricity-producing waterwheel. Because of our vast network, we could immediately pitch potential clients and receive prompt feedback.

3. We have a solid background in marketing and content creation.

Using these skills, we tailored a Lastic®-specific marketing and sales funnel.

Armed with experience and advantage, we developed a critical component of our marketing and sales funnel: The Bamboo Press. This weekly, short-form blog educates humans about topics relating to the compostable-product industry and how Lastic® Bamboo Resin and Lastic® BAMBOO command a top-tier position. Today marks the first anniversary of The Bamboo Press's publishing.

Since publishing our first edition, Lastic®'s product portfolio has grown considerably . In addition to straws and utensils, Lastic® now offers several food boxes and beverage-cup lids. And we're not done making new BAMBOO products—we've got quite a few more H&G compostable Lastic® BAMBOO products brewing in the R+D lab.

We've also got unfinished business when writing The Bamboo Press. Nevertheless, at the writing of this blog, we've got topics prepared through August.

So, keep reading. And, if you have any Lastic®-related questions, send the Island Leaf Team a message!
