Our Story

Back in November 2020, we were remotely employed North American plastic trading expats living in Taiwan. Not only was the comfortable southern Taiwan beach season reaching its prime, but our professional dreams began to merge into something profound. We materialized our objectives with skills learned from over ten years of combined trade experience. We created our own trading company: Island Leaf Commodities.

Why would we abandon the relative stress-free stability that comes with working for someone else? The answer lies within the entrepreneurial, business-driven souls that compose our team.

During the pre-Island Leaf years, we witnessed our (ex) bosses engage in appalling practices. Generally, they would commit several relationship-damming atrocities. To add even more injury to insult, they mostly communicated poorly with clients and suppliers. To fuel growth, they always uttered the following mantra "Find another buyer. The world has over 8 billion people."

We concluded: let's build a trading company founded on straightforward, friendly, and clear communication. When we make deals, let's honor our word. Let's also pay our suppliers on time.
 

Building Island Leaf has required effort and relationship building. Developing relationships has played a vital role in our success.

Our effort's fruits include a diverse product portfolio filled with metals, recycled plastics, and more.

 

We enjoy monitoring present trends to determine future paradigms. For example, we know that many wish to pivot from single-use plastics. Several plastic product makers yearn for eco-friendly alternatives to environmentally devastating single-use plastics like straws. We've got the replacement: Lastic Bamboo Resin and products.
